Today’s lesson is all about accuracy! I’m sharing 8 common plural mistakes that I hear all the time. Have a look at the list and think about whether you make mistakes with this vocabulary. It’s usually because of the translation from your own language. You can also write down the natural examples to make sure you use them correctly in the future.
Here we go:
1. advice
Can I give you some advice? Never add ‘s’ to this word. I mean it, never! That’s my advice 😉
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
2. news
I saw something interesting on the news yesterday.
I’ve got some exciting news for you!
3. hair
I need a haircut. My hair is too long.
Can you cut my hair for me?
4. holiday
How was your holiday?
We’re going on holiday in July!
5. furniture
Have you got much furniture to take with you when you move house?
We bought lots of new furniture for our living room last weekend!
6. information
I need to find out some information about the local schools.
Listen carefully, this is an important piece of information!
7. luggage
We need to hire a big car. We’ve got a lot of luggage.
I don’t usually take much luggage when I visit my parents.
8. accommodation
Our accommodation in Cornwall was lovely. I’d recommend it!

You’ll notice that most of the plural mistakes are because you shouldn’t add an ‘s’ to the word (e.g. advice, furniture, luggage, etc) and also pay attention to how this vocabulary is used in a sentence (e.g. some news, on holiday, my hair is, etc).
